工作坊議題說明

以下為台夫特大學Roberto Rocco教授寄來的工作坊說明, 提到需要攜帶的物品, 基地(Vlaardingen) , 及要討論議題 , 請同學開始進行背景及相關課題的了解: 

This is a list of the things you need to bring to the Summer School:

1. Lap-top

2. Drawing materials (a few pens and colours, because you are going to draw a lot. Of course we will provide paper).

3. Photo camera (we will use photography a lot during the workshops). If you don't own a photo camera, please don't worry. You will be able to work with other students. We don't want you to buy anything at this point!

4. You will need to read the two papers attached to this email. Please read these papers and write down your questions. We will discuss these texts once you are here in Delft.

5. The name of the city we will study is VLAARDINGEN. Vlaardingen is a medium sized municipality near the city of Rotterdam. This is the official website. http://www.vlaardingen.nl/ Obviously, most of the information is in Dutch, but you will find some info in English as well. You can also try to use Google Translate to understand some of the Dutch texts. Could you please start exploring the Internet and find out as much information as possible about Vlaardingen, Rotterdam and the Randstad? This is just an exploratory exercise. Remember that the main source of information are official reports and academic papers, but you need to have a basic question you want to answer, so your research is more directed.

We want you to be able to answer the following questions:

What are the main spatial issues of Vlaardingen, Rotterdam and the Randstad?
-What are issues concerning the environment?
-What are issues concerning the economy?
-What are issues concerning society and sociatel trends?
-What are the main differences you can spot between those places and similar places in China or Taiwan. Which lessons can China or Taiwan learn from the Netherlands? What lessons can they teach?

Later, we will send you a "package" of maps and graphic materials about the place we are going to study.

Let me know if this assignment is clear. However, please be aware that we will explore these things here as well. We want you to find infomation, but we are not telling you what the main issues are yet. You will need to explore by yourself just as an exercise.
